Commitment to Quality
Trust Motor City Home Improvement to examine your roof and make a reliable, experienced recommendation on any services that may be needed. Roofing problems may not show up until months or years after you have a roof installed, so it’s important to have a reliable company doing the work. We have over 12 years of roofing experience, using high-quality materials and the highest levels of workmanship. We’re licensed and insured and provide free estimates so you won’t face any unpleasant surprises.
Our experienced staff will recommend repair when possible and a replacement when needed. Generally, most roofs can be expected to last between 20 and 25 years. This can vary, however, according to such variables as the materials used, your roof’s ventilation, and the weather it’s exposed to.
Signs of Roofing Trouble
It’s a good idea to have your roof checked at least once or twice a year, or more often after stressors such as heavy rain or snowfall. In addition, the following can be signs that you need a roof repair or replacement:
- Missing Shingles
Missing shingles can be evidence of trouble, particularly if they’re located in the valley of your roof. This could make your home vulnerable to leaks, since snow and rain flow through the valley as they make their way to your gutters.
- Damaged Shingles
Shingles that are curling, buckling, cracking, or losing granules may have exceeded their lifespan. It’s important to check not only your roof, but also your gutters, since loose granules can accumulate there.
- Chimney Flashing Materials
If your chimney flashing is made of a material other than metal, you should consider having it replaced. This area is prone to leaks, and materials like roof cement or tar often don’t do an adequate job.
- Attic Issues
If you can see daylight through the roof of your attic, that’s a sign of a problem. Moisture in the insulation can also be evidence of a leak.
- Water Spots on Ceiling
This indicates a leak somewhere, but it can be difficult to pinpoint. The leak may actually be located far away from the damage.
If you do need a new roof, you’ll be able to choose from a wide variety of materials. We’ll make recommendations based on your home’s style and the slope of your roof, but as long as your choice is a safe one, it’s up to you. You can choose from various materials, including the following:
In addition, roofing material now comes in colors ranging from neutrals to bolder choices. You can coordinate your roof color to match the style of your home or elements such as brick, stone, or siding. If the exterior of your home has several colors or materials, you may want to pick a fairly neutral shingle color. But if your home has a more monotone appearance, you could try a bolder color.
Just keep in mind any Homeowner’s Association restrictions you may have in your neighborhood, and if you’re planning to sell your home in the near future, you may want to stick with a more neutral choice.
